ALTA Business Verification
Free public company directorySearch connected public company, organization and sanctions records through one interface. Verified identifiers may confirm a link between company records; name-based results remain clearly labelled as possible matches.
Free public-information service. Published profiles may be searched and viewed without charge. Information is compiled from the identified publicly available sources and, where stated, open-data sources.

One search automatically checks connected company and sanctions sources. A name alone remains a possible match; only verified identifiers confirm a link between records. Coverage is not exhaustive.
One public reference layer
Company information should be understandable, attributable and current enough to be useful.
ALTA provides a free public company-reference service for international business. It presents permitted registry facts with their source and retrieval date without exposing private client files, internal compliance decisions or confidential documents.
Public profiles are provided for general informational purposes. They may be incomplete, delayed or affected by source limitations, and they are not legal, compliance, credit or investment advice. Users should verify material facts directly with the cited source before making a decision.
Corporations Canada records and the connected OSFI and CRA datasets contain information provided under the Open Government Licence – Canada.
Coverage framework
Sources are connected only after technical, quality and permitted-use review.
Legal identity, registry number, jurisdiction, entity type, standing and filing dates where publication is permitted.
Public registrations and official notices, presented with scope, authority and an explanation of what the record does not prove.
Source-linked screening against applicable public lists, with match context and update dates rather than unsupported conclusions.
Permitted identifiers, historical names and cross-references such as LEI, without merging unrelated entities.
Data sources & methodology
We clearly separate connected sources, guidance-linked review and connections that are not yet active.
The figures below describe source-specific records before cross-source matching. The same organization may appear in more than one dataset.
Coverage is not exhaustive and is not an AML clearance, licence confirmation or business recommendation.
The official GLEIF API is used for company-name and LEI searches. It may return legal names, LEIs, entity and registration status, general location and reported reference data.
LEI coverage is not universal. No LEI result does not mean that a business is unregistered or inactive.
The official federal service is used for exact corporation-number or nine-digit business-number searches. Selected public fields include legal name, identifiers, status, governing legislation and general location.
Coverage is federal only and excludes provincially or territorially created companies. The current public response does not publish street addresses, director records or private identifiers.
The official Who We Regulate open dataset adds source-linked identities for federally regulated financial institutions.
ALTA excludes representative names and street addresses. An OSFI listing does not replace checking the current official record or its precise regulatory scope.
The official open dataset adds registered-charity legal names and charity business numbers to company search.
ALTA excludes street-address and director files from this phase. The source reflects information reported to the CRA and should be checked against the current official record.
The official 2024 dataset adds source-linked identities for Canadian companies appearing in major-importer reports.
The database identifies companies accounting for up to 80% of imports for selected products; it is not a complete register of Canadian importers. Location fields are used only to keep source-specific identities distinct and are not published by ALTA.
Two official open datasets add source-linked identities for CER-regulated companies and current COGOA operating-licence holders.
Accountable-officer and contact fields are excluded. A listing confirms only the scope stated by the source and does not establish general corporate status or suitability.
The official public registry is monitored as a future regulatory-status source for verified legal entities.
The registry can include individuals and entities. ALTA does not create or merge company profiles from names alone, and does not present this source as bulk-connected yet.
On-demand name screening checks the official Consolidated Canadian Autonomous Sanctions List and returns source-linked name-match context.
A name match is not identity confirmation, sanctions clearance or a compliance decision. The governing regulations remain authoritative.
On-demand name screening checks the official UN Security Council Consolidated List and identifies the list, match type and available public reference details.
Potential matches require comparison of additional identifiers in the official source and human review.
A locally retained snapshot of the official UK Sanctions List supports source-linked possible-name matching without contacting the external source during a visitor search.
A possible name match requires review against the official record and additional identifiers. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
The EU source adapter has been technically reviewed, but a complete and reliable official source file has not yet been admitted to public search.
This source is reported as unavailable and cannot produce a no-match conclusion until the connection is resolved and validated.
The official data format has been technically reviewed, but the source is not activated for public search while reuse rights are being determined.
No public result or no-match conclusion is drawn from this source while it remains not activated.
The public MSB Registry is cited for applicable registration records. FINTRAC guidance informs the PEP and head-of-international-organization review framework.
No comprehensive official public PEP list is represented as automated coverage. A registry entry is not a licence, endorsement or operational confirmation.
A future authorized connection could expand coverage for British Columbia companies after access, permitted-use and fee controls are approved.
ALTA does not scrape Canada’s Business Registries search website and does not present BC Registry data as currently connected.
Retrieve permitted public records from the named authority.
Keep jurisdiction, identifier, source and retrieval date attached.
Do not merge entities on name similarity alone.
Show scope, freshness and a direct route to the source.
Corporations Canada records and the OSFI, CRA, Canadian Importers Database and CER datasets contain information provided under the Open Government Licence – Canada. GLEIF LEI reference data is available under CC0. The UK Sanctions List contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
ALTA is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the authorities or organizations listed above. Free information is provided for general research and does not replace checking the current official record.
